Our Mission
At inABLE, our mission is to empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Africa through computer assistive technology and digital accessibility.
Unstoppable is a campaign dedicated to showcasing the power of real-life experiences and positive stories of Africans with disabilities, highlighting their ability to lead independent lives.
We are dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities.
JULIUS: I have a condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa
I was born sighted and at the age of ten,
I lost my sight.
I have lost my sight twice!
DJ WIWA: (Speaking English)
DJ WIWA'S SISTER: She started school in a normal school,
where the school had only two classes,
that is nursery and pre-unit.
We didn’t know she had Celebral Palsy.
LINDA: I grew up feeling broken,
but I didn't know why,
until recently
that's when I learnt
I have an invisible disability.
I am a person living with Dyslexia,
and ADHD.
JULIUS: I think it humbles me
the fact that I get to use programs
and projects to really impact the youth,
and to shift perceptions on disability.
DJ WIWA: (Speaking English)
DJ WIWA'S SISTER: From a young age, she has loved music.
Music is like her everything.
Through music she learnt how to walk, how to balance,
she graduated from the DJ Academy,
and she is now DJ Wiwa, queen of the decks.
LINDA: All this time I have worked,
in different organisations,
it has been like,
I can do this and I have to show you,
I can do this and I can do it well.
And that has also helped me,
succeed in the roles I have held
in various organisations.
Julius: My name is Julius Mbura,
Wanjiku: I am Winfred Wanjiku Muchiri,
Linda: I am Linda Njoki Gakuru,
I know
All together: I am unstoppable.
At inABLE, our mission is to empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Africa through computer assistive technology and digital accessibility.
We envision a world where disability is NOT inability, a community where individuals with disabilities have ACCESS to the same educational, technological, and employment opportunities as the non-disabled.
Our organization envisions changing the narrative surrounding disabilities in Africa. Despite approximately 15% of the 1.4 billion population living with disabilities, their authentic stories are often overlooked. We aim to counter this by amplifying their voices and dispelling misconceptions, fostering a more inclusive society where disability is understood and embraced.
